In response to the question "why innocent children drowned in Noah's flood", Imam Reza (p.b.u.h.) points to "sterility of men and women of Noah's people". The narrators of the narration chain are all trustworthy. There are two possibilities about the use of the word ''aqm'' (people) by Imam Reza (p.b.u.h.): First, it means all the people on earth. Secondly, it refers to the people present in Noah's place of residence. Accepting the universality of the storm leads to the confirmation of the first statement, and accepting the limited nature of the storm leads to the denial of the first statement and the proof of the second. The first theory is incompatible with divine justice due to the limitation of Noah's storm. According to the results of the study, the storm of Noah (p.b.u.h.) was limited in the land of his residence based on narrative and intellectual reasons; therefore, the people considered by Imam Reza (p.b.u.h.) will be limited to the area where Noah (p.b.u.h.) and his people lived. On the other hand, there is no indication of the issue of "sterility of men and women" in the Qur'an, and if it is accepted, it should be generalized to the fate of the other ethnic groups that the Qur'an has mentioned to punish. Finally, the problem of punishing other people because of their satisfaction with the actions of Noah's people is again exclusive to the people present in the land of Noah’s residence; otherwise, it will be incompatible with the divine justice again. The present article has been conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and by referring to library sources. This hadith has not been studied in the documentary and indicative investigation so far.
