According to verse 13 of Surah Al-Hujurat, no tribe is superior to another tribe, and the only criterion for superiority is 'piety'. But according to the narration of the 'Twelve Caliphs', all the successors of According to the theologians and based on the hadiths of the "Twelve Caliphs", all successors of the Prophet of God (PBUH) and the Imams of the Islamic Ummah must be from the Quraysh tribe or the Prophet's family until the Day of Judgment. The question is, given the necessity of presenting hadiths to the Quran, what is the relationship of this narration to the thirteenth verse of Surah Al-Hujurat? Is it against it or does it not contradict it? Here, we answer this question using a library-based approach and descriptive-analytical method. According to this research, the requirement that the Imam and Caliph be from Quraysh does not contradict the Quran; because being a Quraysh in the caliphate and imamate is the way to recognize the Imam and Caliph, not a condition, and being a Quraysh is an example of the principle of lutf. In other words, 'Qurashi' in the hadiths of the Twelve Imams is a title that is not itself the subject of imamate and caliphate, but rather refers to the real subject, namely the Caliphs and Imams chosen by God.
