The doctrinal belief of *Bara'at* is one of the theological principles in Shi'a Islam that has consistently faced accusations from opponents throughout history. Among these accusations are claims regarding the historical discontinuity of this concept in the first century, its emergence as a novel idea in later periods, or its lack of authenticity, suggesting that it was borrowed from ideologies outside Islam. This paper, after highlighting the importance and uniqueness of this doctrinal belief in the hadith and theological works of the Imami school, seeks to address these accusations. Using a library-based method and a descriptive-analytical approach, it first demonstrates that the foundational aspect of the belief in *Bara'at* (general disassociation) is rooted in the Qur'an and prophetic traditions. Additionally, through an examination of the narrations of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) as well as historical reports from the first Islamic century, it illustrates that the concept of disassociation from the enemies and opponents of the Ahlul Bayt (specific disassociation) was not only evident within the Islamic society centered around the Ahlul Bayt but was also adhered to by their companions and followers. The conclusion establishes that in addition to the foundational belief in *Bara'at*, which is grounded in Islamic sources from the first century, the specific form of *Bara'at* also possesses historical authenticity in the early Islamic period.
