The fate of the purified bodies of the Infallibles (peace be upon them) after martyrdom is a subtle theological issue marked by an apparent conflict in narrations. On one side, an authentic report states that their material bodies are removed three days after burial; on the other, strong and well-established evidence affirms the continued presence of these bodies in the earth. This study employs a descriptive–analytical method with a critical approach to assess these conflicting proofs. The main hypothesis maintains that the narration of removal, despite its sound chain of transmission, is unacceptable in content due to its clear contradiction with superior and more definitive evidence. The strongest opposing transmitted proof is the authentic narration concerning the visitation of Imam ʿAlī (peace be upon him) in Man Lā Yaḥḍuruhu al‑Faqīh, which explicitly refers to the presence of the “bones of Adam” and the “body of Noah” alongside his sacred body. After establishing the reliability of this narration, the article argues that the hadith of removal not only conflicts with established tradition but also raises unresolved rational difficulties. Furthermore, its striking resemblance to certain Christian doctrines strengthens the suspicion of borrowing from non-Islamic sources (Isrāʾīliyyāt). The findings show that, according to the principles governing conflicting evidence in hadith studies, the narrations affirming bodily permanence—due to their abundance, prominence, and lack of content-related problems—take precedence over the solitary but soundly transmitted report of removal after three days.
